On to new adventures!

Welcome 2010!  It is with mixed feelings we put 2009 behind us.  It was one life changing year!  In a 6-month period Nate graduated from Weber State University, we sold our home in Layton, bought a home in Eugene, moved Nate to Oregon, he started law school at the University of Oregon, and we welcomed a new baby to our family.  Whew, it makes me frazzled just thinking about it!  We could never have made it through all of that without the help and support of our amazing families.  They truly were our guardian angels.  We are so greatly blessed!  Now we are looking forward to a “calm” year ahead (maybe not so much for Nate!).  At least we officially have one semester of law school under our belts!  We can’t say it was the most pleasant experience as we had to spend half of the semester separated, but we survived nonetheless!  Nate moved up to our home in Eugene, Oregon in the middle of August last year.  Makenna (16 months at the time) and I stayed back in Utah with family so that I could continue to work full-time until Sage was born.  Our insurance was through my work at the hospital so while it was a very lonely 10 weeks for Nate and we were all heartsick to be together again, it would have been really expensive to do it any other way.  Nate flew to Utah for Sage’s birth (thank goodness for a planned C-Section!), and then the 3 of us girls finally joined Nate in Oregon at the end of October.  The next 2 months were spent adjusting to a lot of “news”: A new home in a new state with a new child and a new study schedule for Nate - every spare minute!  It was definitely a crazy time for us, but we’re happy to report that we survived (even quite happily!) and are pretty settled in to our new lives.  Thankfully Nate got nearly a whole month off for Christmas break and we have enjoyed every minute of it!!!  It is so wonderful to have his time and attention all to ourselves again.  Although he was amazing at balancing such a huge load at school and spending as much time with us as possible, we still continually wanted more.  And now we’ve got it!  The girls and I went to Utah for the 2 weeks during Nate’s grueling finals so that he wouldn’t have any distraction & so I could work through the end of the year (I got to stay on at the hospital for the interim 2 months on maternity leave).  Then he joined us and we finished off 2009 spending wonderful time with our families.  We just kicked off 2010 with a fabulous party up at my parents’ cabin and have since been living up our last few days of vacation before heading back to reality.  Yesterday we celebrated Tyler’s birthday early by going bowling at Fat Cats.  We had a great time and Makenna loved bowling all on her own.  This morning we slept in and then played some Rock Band!  SO fun!!  Now we are getting ready to head back to Oregon tomorrow, which is always bitter-sweet.  We will miss our families, but are looking forward to some of our own family time and the many adventures ahead.  With that we welcome 2010; it’s going to be a fantastic year!
