Day of Thanks 2011

This year we had a fabulous Thanksgiving surrounded by wonderful friends.  We weren’t able to be with family due to the shortness of Nate’s school break as well as finals coming up & the need to start studying.  So instead we planned a get-together with some friends and enjoyed every minute of it.  Dave and Teresa Stockdale hosted the dinner in their beautiful home & we we’re not lacking for anything!  We had every Thanksgiving dish you could hope for on a beautifully decorated table and wonderful company.  Our other great friends the Johnson’s & Hallock’s were there as well as some of Teresa’s family.  We had a true feast and all shared what we were thankful for and our incredible blessings.  The kids had a fantastic time too, getting to eat all together away from the adults.  Afterward we spent time chatting and having dance-off’s on the Wii while we digested the outrageous amounts of food we had just eaten.  It was a blast!  Now the girls are in bed, Nate is standing in a line at Wal-Mart being a wonderful sport suffering Black Friday shopping (our first time ever!), and I am relaxing while having time to reflect on how incredibly blessed I and our little family have been.  I have so much to be thankful for!  I have a wonderfully caring, supportive and adoring husband, darling, healthy daughters, a beautiful home, an education with a flexible and good paying job, amazing family on both sides who are fun, supportive and loving and the most amazing friends anyone could ask for.  We are also expecting a new baby, have great health, and Nate has the opportunity of earning a degree that will hopefully be able to support our family well in the future.  Most importantly we have the gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives and the blessing of knowing that families can be together forever.  I don’t think I have anything left to possibly ask for.  I am so grateful to a loving Heavenly Father for blessing me and my family so richly and to my best friend and husband to share it all with.  Happy Thanksgiving!

The "new" me!

Scoot over my poor-eyesight friends - I have now officially joined the club (rather hesitantly)!  Last week I had my first ever optometrist appointment & yes, I need glasses. Thank you pregnancies!  Anyway, I just got them yesterday & it's been quite the adjustment.  I feel like I have super-human eyesight!  Everything is super sharp & crisp far away, which is rather strange for me.  I didn't realize how blurry my vision really was.  Apparently I am in the "near-sighted" club, which has it's perks...I only have to wear my glasses for driving, watching movies, etc, & the Dr. said it'll probably keep me out of reading glasses a lot longer when I'm older.  Sounds good to me!

This morning I wore them for the first time driving to work & it made me a little nauseated.  I think they're going to take some getting used to!  Anyway, I thought I'd complete the new look with a short haircut so there's a whole new me!

Here's a preview (I just got home from work, so please excuse the scrubs & "undone" hair)

Anyway, just thought I'd share what's new at the Wolfley household.  Nate is in the thick of finals studying, so he's super busy, but we are all looking forward to a great break for Thanksgiving.  Hope you all have a fabulous holiday, too. Can't wait to eat till I can't breathe! :)

Happy Halloween!

This Halloween was just another testament that holidays really are much more fun with kids around. The girls were SO excited and it made the entire day so fun! A couple of weeks ago we pulled out our Halloween box & let the girls try on costumes and decide what they would like to wear. Sage chose to be a bunny & Makenna chose "Spiderella" the witch. They looked adorable. Luckily, last year after Halloween I went to the store & bought a bunch of clearance Halloween items so Nate was able to dress up as the devil, and I (of course) was the angel. :) We had a Trunk-or-Treat with our ward on Friday night & got to try out all our costumes as a family. The girls were great at saying trick-or-treat and thank you (a big improvement from last year when they were both so shy). We had a great time & it got the girls even more excited for actual 31st.

We started out Halloween yesterday taking the girls to the farm so that Sage could pick out a pumpkin. Makenna had gotten one on a field trip to the pumpkin patch with her school group, and Sage was feeling a little left out.  I think she was pretty proud to have one of her own!  However, I think the excitement (and the fact that we made her skip her nap), wore her right out because she fell asleep in the car on the way home.  When we made it back, she kept sleeping in Nate’s arms & they snuggled while I got Makenna all dressed up in her costume.  Then we woke Sage up & got her ready as well.  I know I’m a little partial, but they looked so cute!  Afterward we headed off to our friends’ the Johnson’s house for pizza before the fun began.  Their boys Logan and Keadon & our girls are best buds so I think they had a ball Trick-or-Treating together!  Nate and Ross took the 4 kids around and Stacia and I stayed back to pass out candy.  When the girls got back they were so excited to tell me all about it.  They got loads of candy (it better last 6 months!) and I think they had a great time.  Overall I’d say it was a very successful Halloween…and I think it’s only going to get more fun from here!
