First Dentist Appointment

The girls had their very first dentist appointment today!  Only Kenna had an actual appointment scheduled, but when we were brought to the back & Sage saw the cool moving chair, the prizes and the movies on the ceiling, she insisted on being seen, too!  They squeezed in an appointment for her and she got the royal treatment as well.  (Always has to be the same as her big sister!)  They both did great and had no cavities.  Kenna was also very patient as the dentist checked out her bite.  Apparently she has a smaller top palate which has thrown her bite off a little bit.  Guess we’ll be back in 6 months to work on that one!  Overall there were no tears or even reservations about any part of it – I’d say that was pretty successful!

Sweet, sweet vacation!

The second half of our second week of vacation was spent hanging out with my wonderful in-laws!  We went to the Treehouse Museum, swimming at the Bountiful Rec Center, found a fun splash pad, had picnics and all in all, got spoiled ROTTEN!  Richard even volunteered to watch the girls one night so Susan, Nicole and I could go on a Girls’ Night Out!  We had a fantastic time (I love my mother & sister-in-law!), and I think the little girls had an equally great time with their Grandpa.  He spoiled them with pizza, ice cream and a movie with popcorn in a tent in their living room.  Can’t get much better than that for little girls!  We also were there for some early 24th of July fireworks which was really fun.  We missed Nate that week, but it was pretty hard going home again – our family is wonderful and we always have so much fun with them!

Welcome Katelyn Brooke!!

After Lake Powell, Nate flew home so he could get back to work, but the girls and I stayed an extra week in Utah to visit my twin sister Allison & the newest addition to her family, baby Kate!  What a special trip.  (Her middle name is Brooke after me - makes me happy every time I think about it.  I don't know if I deserve it, but thanks SO much Allison & Adam, it meant the world to me!!)  I was able to go to their house by myself for a day to help out with the baby & her two older sisters (thanks to Nate’s mom for watching my girls!).  The next day she met me at Monkey Island with them and we let the four cute cousins run and bounce themselves to exhaustion!  They had such a great time.  Makenna and Sage absolutely adore their cousins Sydney and Lauren.  After that I took all 4 girls back to Allison’s house for another couple of fun days.  We had that house filled with 7 girls…poor Adam!  I spent the majority of the time soaking up Katelyn’s sweet baby-ness and holding her every second I could.  I might not have been the best help while I was there, but I was in heaven!  Unfortunately I probably won’t get to see her again until Christmas (she’ll be 5 months old!!), so I really wanted to take advantage of spending time with her and Allison.  On our last day there, my sweet Grandpa even came to visit and spent time with us.  Later that night my girls & I drove up to his house & had a great time.  He and my step-Grandma Debbie took the girls to Costco and bought them the cutest poofy little tutu’s.  The girls also had a blast playing in a little pool at their house and were quite entertained with their dogs.  It made me happy being able to spend time with them, we don’t get to see them nearly enough.  Thanks Gramps & Deb!!

Lake Powell Vacation!

Last week we were able to spend a fabulous 8 days in beautiful Lake Powell with Nate’s family.  We were in heaven!  Lake Powell is one of those places that can never get old to visit.  It is one of our favorite vacations and so to be able to spend a full week there surrounded by our family truly was amazing.  We were a little nervous being surrounded by water with a 1 & 3 year-old, but we all kept a close eye on the girls and it ended up being more relaxing than I thought it’d be.  Not to mention they basically lived in their life jackets!  I think the girls could never get tired of swimming.  They are such little fish!  They loved every minute in the water and both even mastered the “easy-ski” behind the boat!  It was pretty humorous when they would cry when their turn was over & fight to get back out there.  They loved it!  Personally I thought it was pretty brave of them to go out behind the boat by themselves for such a long time.  I think they are going to be on the slalom in no time - they’re naturals!  I also learned how much braver my girls are than I am, they caught several lizards on adventures with Nate & had no fear of holding them.  I get a little jumpy. J  Kenna also had a great time fishing with her Grandpa Richard.  They would sit on the back of the boat and just spend time together while they waited for fish to bite.  And bite they did!  Kenna caught her very first fish and got to reel it in all by herself!  She didn’t want to touch it (I can’t blame her!) and wasn’t too thrilled when Grandpa stuck his hands in its mouth to retrieve the hook, but overall, loved the experience!  The whole trip went smoothly other than the fact that the water was rising so quickly that they guys had to re-tie the ropes and anchors every single day.  We literally lost half of our beach in the 1 week we were there.  We also had one adventure when Richard, Susan and Nicole drove the boat to the marina and it died on their way back.  They ended up having to get towed back to the marina & spent the night in Page.  They weren’t able to get the boat repaired fast enough so the next day they rented another one and finally joined us back on the houseboat.  I don’t think it was how they were hoping to spend that day and night, but we were just grateful they made it safely.  And it made for some good entertainment!!  We nicknamed the boat they rented “Betsy” and had a great time seeing who had the longest drag time before getting up on the slalom (we are definitely spoiled with their Mastercraft).  However, it ended up being a perfect boat to take us through Cathedral Canyon and up to Rainbow Bridge which was one of my favorite parts of the whole trip.  The entire week was spent swimming, hiking, boating, eating WAY too much, reading, playing cards, lizard hunting and going on adventures in our two paddle-boats nicknamed Huey & the ProShark . The guys also carried on their tradition of slide football superbowls. Oh what a trip!  Thank you SO much to the Wolfley’s for such a fantastic vacation, we loved every minute of it!
