Love My Girls!!

Every day I am amazed at how smart Makenna is. I guess I just don't give her enough credit, but she's only two! Today she surprised me again while we were talking to Nate on Skype up in Portland. Kenna has a funny habit of frequently telling on herself and today was no different. Yesterday she picked up a wicker basket and walked right into Sage with it, so of course the first thing she says when she sees Daddy on the webcam is, "I hit Sage in the face with a basket", in a very apologetic tone. Then Nate, trying not to smile, says "Darn it, we have to be so careful". Then Kenna starts walking around repeating "I did something terrible" followed by "I don't really want to talk about it". Nate and I looked at each other trying so hard not to laugh and I said "I don't know where she got that!" Of course Kenna heard me and said, "The Lion King!" I swear she's only seen that movie a handful of times (she says it's "too scary"!), but if you know the movie well, Simba does in fact say that phrase to Timone and Pumba! I guess she picks up more than I realize. :) What a goof!

Now for a few fun pics!! With the warm weather FINALLY here, we've been spending LOTS of time outside. And of course along with frequent trips to the park and many barbecues comes many messy faces! :) Gotta love sticky little girls!

Ice Cream! (and of course her FAVORITE sunglasses!)
Sage after an apricot fruit leather, even her feet were covered!
This one was a cupcake at Mac & Carter's Birthday Party!
Sage LOVES the swings...I think she'll be a good Six Flags buddy!
Kenna loves them too, she's even learning how to "pump"!
Pooped out from all the fun!
Sage enjoying her very first S'MORE...she loved it (who doesn't!)

Our fun-packed June!

The past couple of weeks have been pretty fun around our house! We've been able to spend lots of time as a family and we have loved every minute of it. A couple of weekends ago we went hiking to one of our favorite spots...Spencer's Butte. At the top we sat down to eat lunch (of course Sage was asleep as always!) and were befriended by several squirrels who I'm sure were hoping we would share. At first they were pretty cute and Kenna was really excited, but after Nate gave the first squirrel a bit of a sandwich, he must have told his buddies because we were soon surrounded by them. And they were persistent! We'd shoo them away and they'd come right back. Kenna started getting a little nervous (secretly they weren't looking so cute anymore to me either!), so we had to cut lunch a little short. It was an adventure! And of course friendly little Makenna said "hi" to every single person we passed on the hike, to their enjoyment and our entertainment. It was pretty cute!

The amazing view from the top.
Sage soundly asleep, guess it's a comfortable pack!
Our cute little hiking buddy!
The not-so-cute squirrel doing tricks!
We also celebrated my birthday! I got MANY calls and messages from friends and family members...thanks for thinking of me! My sweet friends up here even made me a cake (with WAY too many candles on it) :) and took me out to lunch. They are so great. And of course my wonderful husband spoiled me as always. I love you Nate, thanks for making it an awesome birthday!

The kiddos enjoying a little mac n' cheese...at least Kenna!
And yes, most of her buddies are boys, what a lucky girl! ;)The awesome birthday cake, thanks Chelsea & Christie
(and Nate thanks you too, I don't think he could make a double layered
lemon cake with homemade frosting!)
The beautiful flowers I got from Nate, I LOVE flowers!
Now I have to say a late "Happy Father's Day" to all the wonderful fathers in my life. My dad is my hero and my father-in-law is more a second dad than an "in-law". That word just doesn't do him justice. I love both of them so much and am so grateful for their love, support and advice. And most of all I want to say Happy Father's Day to my sweet husband who is truly the best dad my girls could ever get! He loves them and it shows in the way he plays with them, teaches them and makes time for them. I can't think of a more patient, caring and fun dad. And boy do they love him! No one can make them smile or laugh like their dad! I feel so blessed to have a husband who is so involved in our children's lives and every day routine. Hope you had a wonderful Father's day Nate!! We love you!

Breakfast in bed on Father's Day:
This picture says a lot of the occasion...note Nate holding Sage's hand and the glass of milk? That's cuz Kenna spilled most the milk running with it in the excitement to bring it to Daddy, and Sage really badly wanted a strawberry. Instead she just got syrup all over her fingers...and then of course all over Nate. And you see Kenna has succeeded in stealing a strawberry. That's cuz Nate only has two hands. Poor guy...what a trooper! :)
Lately Makenna has been a little bit of a mischievous two-year old. The other day I let Sage play with a highlighter (she can't take the lid off) and I failed to notice that she kindly handed it off to her big sister. I found Kenna a few minutes later with it in hand, but no noticeable damage had been done so I simply put it away (to the tune of Kenna repeating "only on paper" over and over...yes, she's been taught!). Then a couple days later I was putting toys away and happened to sit down between the crib and the wall. Surprise, surprise, there was Makenna's lovely highlighter artwork...all over the crib sheet and bumper pad. And I thought she was innocent, what was I thinking? Stories like that are becoming daily occurrences around our house, but such is life with a two year-old. She sure keeps us busy!

Does this look like a face that would color on the nice crib? Yeah, I think so too!
This picture doesn't quite do it justice...but isn't it pretty?

Utah Vacation!

I was just looking through some of my pictures and was overwhelmed with how sweet all of my family is! We recently took a trip to Utah (just the girls and I while Nate took finals, then he joined us there), and man we were spoiled rotten!! I started it out going to Women’s Conference with my mom, sisters and grandma…SO much fun! Then we enjoyed an amazing (girls only!) four days in St. George with Susan (my mother-in-law) where we went swimming, shopping, watched a ton of chick-flicks and just relaxed! We celebrated my sister-in-law’s graduation (congrats Nicole!), my bro-in-law’s b-day, went out to eat WAY too many times, went to the Dinosaur museum with my sister Allison and her two cutest girls, visited wonderful friends and old neighbors (we miss you all!), and my sweetest mom even gave up her Jazz playoff game ticket so I could go with my dad!! Yes, they lost and it was a bummer, but it was a killer game to be at! Could we have been more spoiled? And when Nate came all of my family members came over for a huge BBQ party to celebrate his first year of law school behind him. We even got to go out on TWO dates while our parents watched the girls! Needless to say it was a little tough to come home. It was so great to see everyone and spend so much time with family. We miss you all and now just look forward to having visitors up here!! Thanks for the wonderful vacation – we love you!!
Cute Grandma Wolfley in the pool with the girls!

Susan was brave & caught the lizard we found in the house!

While Grandpa was "watching" Makenna, she found the hand sanitizer and decided it was best used in her hair.  It was quite the crispy mess! :)

Just a little update...

Nate officially started his externship up in Portland last week, and has really enjoyed it! He has gotten to sit in on LOTS of court hearings and decisions and the judge he is working with has been really accommodating. I am almost finished with my training for my new job and am ready to be on my own! It has been fun to be back to work, but nice that it’s only 2 days a week so I can still spend lots of time with my girls. It feels strange being dressed up and in an office talking to patients on the phone…SO different than my last nursing job! But I can’t complain about working 8-5 with no nights, holidays or weekends! And I definitely enjoy education and care-coordination. As for the girls…they are still as cute as ever! Sage ate spaghetti for the first time (and loved it of course!). She wants to eat just about everything now…and Kenna would love to oblige her. I’ve fished several goldfish crackers, candy pieces and other random food items out of Sage’s mouth that Kenna has so kindly shared! :) What a sweet big sister (emphasis on “big”)! I swear she thinks she’s a little mommy. Lately she’s been saying things like, “Careful Daddy, that’s dangerous”, “Have to be nice to Miss Sage”, and of course “I wanna do it myself”! She’s growing up so fast! Every day I am amazed at the things she can do. I sure love my girls!
